Mapping for Change

Mapping for Change is a social enterprise, owned by University College London, that specialises in work on involving local communities in changing, developing or sustaining their environment and in helping them make the links between local action and bigger national and global issues through the application of mapping, using a suite of innovative tools for communication.

Our primary research and development of new technologies, tools, platforms and processes are aimed at creating improvements for the health, lifestyle and culture of individual and communities from disadvantaged or marginalised groups with a focus on helping to increase participation in community life and supporting the integration of individuals from different groups and backgrounds.

Mapping for Change's role in this project involved sharing and training partners in the use of participatory mapping as a methodology. In addition, the activities carried out in two London based communities resulted in the development of local community maps aimed at providing insights into the resources, assets, issues and vision for the community by its residents.
